Edward is also survived by his sisters, Elizabeth and Joyce (Florian) and his brother Richard (Linda) and extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his father Edward Thomas in 1966 and his mother Mary (Polly) in 2005. Edward was born on May 28th, 1932 in Winnipeg. He lived in Winnipeg, Libau, Mahone Bay (NS), and eventually settled back in Winnipeg in the Elmwood area. Edward and Edith married May 22nd, 1954, remaining in the Elmwood area to raise their family. Edward joined the Winnipeg Fire Department on September 23rd, 1957, and proudly retired on April 18th, 1993, as Captain after 35 years of continuous service. Edward was a passionate craftsman, fisherman and hunter in his younger years, as well as a very qualified fix-it guy. He loved spending time with his family, quietly doing puzzles or reading, and spending time solving the world's problems with his buddies at the LaSalle Hotel. The family wishes to thank Ed's friends at the LaSalle Hotel, the Winnipeg Fire Department and the Paramedic Service, as well as the Winnipeg Fire Department Support Group for their assistance during this difficult time. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 30 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Edward's memory to the Firefighters Burn Fund. Edward will be sadly missed and our many cherished memories we have of him will forever be in our hearts. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Everyone goes through life with only a few people dear enough to them, and whom they respect to the highest degree, that they become part of a small group of "heroes". Uncle Ed Keach was one of my small group of heroes. His passing was very sad but the memories he left will never fade. Our entire family had utmost respect for Uncle Ed and he often came to the farm at Kenton to contribute his carpenter skills, his assistance to my Dad with the farm operations, and to visit. My Dad, John Roseveare thought the world of Uncle Ed, as we all did, and always enjoyed being around him. And I remember how excited i was to go to go stay in East Kildonan and visit the Keach family for a week or two in the summer for my "holidays" from the farm when I was a boy. Later, when I was recently married, and taking my Refrigeration apprenticeship schooling at Red River, my wife Arlene and I often were invited to Keach's for supper (always got stuffed with great food) and would sit and talk to Uncle Ed and Aunt Edie in the evening. Some nights, the women would visit, Greg would be playing on the floor fixing toy cars or something, and Uncle Ed and I would sit on the couch and listen to the Jets game on a little radio made in the shape and color of a Labatt's beer can. Good memories. I still think of Uncle Ed and Aunt Edie and my cousins often. - Posted by: Les and Arlene Roseveare (nephew) on: Aug 04, 2016
